India's Health Min to Hold Coordination Meeting on Barcoding

India's union health ministry will soon call a coordination meeting with the commerce ministry and the department of MSME to discuss the issue of cost implications of the bar code implementation.

The union health ministry of India will have a joint meeting with the union ministries of commerce and MSME to discuss the issue of cost implications of the bar code implementation by the small and medium pharma companies both for exports and for government supplies, and also to harmonize the guidelines issued by DGFT on bar coding.

 

The health ministry had recently held a meeting under the chairmanship of director general to discuss the issue of implementation of bar codes in all government medical supplies procurement. The meeting decided to hold an urgent meeting with the department of MSME and Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on the issue of cost implications for micro, small and medium enterprise drug suppliers with regard to bar code implementation and harmonization of guidelines issued by DGFT.
