AMSTERDAM, 3 October 2012 — In its ongoing commitment to driving growth and innovation in the global pharmaceutical industry, UBM Live’s CPHI portfolio today released the results of a pre-event survey indicating positive growth expectation and insights into the development and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. According to the survey, 97% of visitors expect sales to increase or stay the same over the next 12 months (up from 90% over the last 12 months), and 90% rate their business opportunity in the global pharmaceutical market positively. Attendees expect pockets of innovation to positively impact their overall business including GMP certification (64.8%), the rise in generics (58.6%), the move toward outsourcing (53.4%) and supply chain security (50.4%). The visitors polled represent pharmaceutical buyers who plan to attend CPHI Worldwide, set from 9-11 October at the Feria de Madrid in Spain. CPHI and co-located events ICSE, InnoPack and P-MEC Europe host 2,200 suppliers offering ingredients, finished dosage, contract services, equipment, and packaging.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to driving growth and innovation in the global pharmaceutical market, CPHI provides an efficient and effective platform for the most active buyers to identify business opportunities and meet with potential partners to move the industry forward,” commented CPHI Portfolio Director, Greg Kerwin. “Despite global economic uncertainly, we are enthused to see such optimism and focus on innovation from the leaders in the pharmaceutical industry.”
The recently completed CPHI Worldwide survey polled nearly 1,100 pre-registered visitors via email and found the following top line results:
- 90% of visitors rate their business opportunity in the global pharmaceutical market positively
- 97% of visitors expect sales to increase or stay the same over the next 12 months (vs. 90% over the last 12 months)
- 61% (6 out of 10) of visitors said that the current economic climate will have no impact or a positive impact on their business
- 53.2% of visitors said that the move towards outsourcing will have a positive impact on their business (vs. 8% negative and 30.3% neutral)
- 91% of visitors said they use internet to source products/services
- 90% of visitors rate sustainability as important to the future development of their company (71% have a sustainability policy in place or in progress)
“At this year’s CPHI we’ve made significant investments to improve visitor experience and exhibitor return-on-investment to ensure valuable connections are made easily and productively by the various event participants,” stated Andrew Pert, CPHI Brand Director. “We’ve introduced CPHI Global Meetings which offers personalised matchmaking for pre-scheduled, highly targeted meetings. A mobile app has launched which includes pre-show planning tools, real time navigation of the event, and a platform for networking and information exchange with more than 5,000 downloads. Additionally, the popular zoning format has expanded to make locating business partners as easy as possible.”
As a further reflection of growth in the global pharma market, CPHI Worldwide expects visitors and exhibitors from more than 140 countries. This includes two new Global Pavilions, one for Malaysia and one for Russia. Overall, a record of fifteen country pavilions will be represented at CPHI Worldwide including Asian API market leaders from China and India, as well as Korea. Pavilions for Argentina and Brazil spotlight the two largest economies in South America. Europe is highlighted by pavilions for the UK, France, Ireland, Scotland, and Portugal, while the North Africa, Egypt and Morocco represent Africa. The North American pavilion also returns, featuring support from Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Associates (SOCMA) for the first time.
The pavilions are further supported by global partnerships with the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and Malaysia's MATRADE. Also complementing the global expansion of the event, a series of geography focused lunchtime educational sessions will run each day with keynote presentations from event partners, China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) and India's Pharmexcil.
Free expo passes and VIP pre-show pricing for the event expire on October 5th and registration opens with on-site pricing at the venue on Sunday 7 October and runs through event days. To learn more about the events, and to register, please visit www.cphi.com.
