CPHI Milan 2024: Excerpts from the Exhibitors

After another successful year of bringing the pharmaceutical community together at CPHI Milan in October, hear direct from the exhibitors on why the event is so important for them and the industry as a whole.

Each of the following exhibitors were asked three key questions on their experience at CPHI Milan 2024: What have you enjoyed the most about this year's event? Which content sessions you've found most valuable or any listed up in terms of industry elements? What impact has your time at CPHI had on you?

Quotient representative:

While I didn’t have the opportunity to participate in any of the events this year, I’ve enjoyed spending time on the stand meeting with our customers and partners face-to-face.

The first time I attended CPHI was in 1999 in Amsterdam when it was just in one hall, and it’s amazing to see how big it has become today. It's a place where you can feel the pulse of the industry, witness emerging trends, and engage in valuable discussions with customers, competitors, and stakeholders that play a role in moving the industry forward.

Personally, I love having this unique opportunity to have these kinds of interactions with all our customers, and it has certainly impacted us a lot. We’ve had a record-breaking week with over 120 meetings with our global customers, highlighting the strong interest in what we are delivering to the industry and how we contribute to the success of our customers.

Overall, the event has underscored the importance of face-to-face interactions in building relationships, even in an increasingly digital world.

Sharp representative:

This year we’ve seen some great content and discussions specific to sustainability, with a lot of focus around the need to find practical solutions to reduce carbon emissions in the supply chain – particularly for injectable devices. Sharp is a co-founder of the Alliance to Zero, a non-profit organisation founded in 2021 specifically to facilitate pharma companies to move to net zero. The alliance is working to inform and influence industry players in all areas of sustainability as well as to develop emissions reduction and circular solutions between supply chain partners particularly in the delivery of injectable devices.

Sharp also had our own Business Development Manager Alexander Schaefer contribute to a panel called “RFP Made Easy: A Guide to Identifying the Right Packaging Partner”, where he highlighted some tools to help identify the right packaging partner based on needs and requirements. This was a practical Q&A session that led to some really interesting discussions on how we can best collaborate and work with our customers so that both the client and the contract packaging partners can achieve the best outcome for their product.

Overall, CPHI Milan each year provides us with a valuable opportunity to connect with our clients to understand their needs, their future product pipelines and to discuss how we can address them with our specialist packaging, clinical, and sterile manufacturing capabilities. There's nothing quite like being face-to-face with the people we work with, and that's the most valuable thing about being here.

Enzene representative:

Coming to CPHI Milan this year has been a great opportunity to meet with our customers from around the world and make valuable new connections too.

We had the opportunity to see our CEO, Himanshu Gadgil take the stage for his talk on ‘Breaking the $40 per-gram barrier for mAbs with fully-connected continuous manufacturingTM’.

The talk covered the biotech industry's demand for CDMOs to find innovative solutions to address the limitations of traditional batch processing, particularly for protein-based therapeutics. Himanshu shared how Enzene is pioneering this innovation with our new EnzeneX™ 2.0 platform, helping companies unlock greater efficiency, sustainability, and cost reductions that streamline the process of bringing therapies to market.

Our experience at CPHI this year has been hugely rewarding and motivating, and we’re excited to continue our work to make life-saving medicines more affordable and accessible to patients around the world.

Novacina representative:

Being at CPHI this year has been a really impactful experience, particularly as we’re coming all the way from Australia to be here with our customers.

This year’s event has also provided a fantastic platform to showcase the exciting developments in the ANZ market, especially around tax incentives and manufacturing capabilities. It's been invaluable for raising our international profile and connecting with a global audience.

Our attendance here has been instrumental in increasing our visibility and getting our name in front of the right people. The conversations we've had have been incredibly productive, and we've even had the opportunity to make exciting partnerships and secure new clients.

Agarose Bead Technologies representative:

What I enjoyed most about this year's CPHI Milan was the incredible opportunity to reconnect with industry professionals and gain fresh insights into the latest trends and challenges in the sector. The networking aspect was particularly valuable, as it allowed me to exchange ideas and explore collaboration opportunities with key players in the industry.

As for the content sessions, the discussions on digital transformation in pharma and sustainability in drug manufacturing stood out for me. Both are highly relevant to the future of the industry, and I found the expert speakers provided actionable insights on how companies can embrace these changes.

Acino representative:

This year’s event has been amazing. It was very well organised, and the collective contributions of everyone involved are clear to see.

Throughout the event, it’s been great to witness the unified objective shared by all participants: a commitment to serving and helping patients. Whether the focus was on business-to-business or business to consumer partnerships, API manufacturing, supply chain optimisation, or ensuring the availability of essential materials – we’re all driven by one clear purpose.

The ability to have a full team of key contributors in one room where we can discuss the future has also been incredibly impactful to help us in our goal of creating strategic partnerships that help us evolve and innovate further for the benefit of patients.
