Appearance: Light yellow crystalline or amorphous powder, odorless, darken in sunlight, vulnerable to damage or losing effectiveness in alkaline solutions; slightly soluble in ethanol, very slightly soluble in water, soluble in dilute acids and alkalis. Applications:  Gram-positive cocci and gram-negative bacilli infections, rash, typhoid, rickettsia tsutsugamushi infection, and certain viral infections; the product is a one of the widely used broad-spectrum antibiotics.
