NEOFIXIME (Cefotaxime 1g)

Product is used for the treatment of Serious and life-threatening infections due to bacteria sensitive to cefotaxime, including brain abscess, septicaemia, endocarditis, meningitis (except meningitis due to Listeria monocytogenes), pneumonia, gonorrhoea, typhoid fever, serious intra-abdominal infections (in association with metronidazole), and surgical infection prophylaxis (endoscopic prostate resection, caesarean section). Dosage: (1) For Adult and children over 12 years. Dosage and route of administration should be determined by susceptibility of causative organisms, severity of the infection and the condition of the patients. Type of infection Daily dose (g) Frequency and route: (a) Uncomplicated Gonorrhea 1 1g I,M (single dose), (b) Uncomplicated infections 2 1g every 12 hours I,M or I,V, (c) Moderate to severe infections 3 - 6 1 to 2g every 8 hours I,M or I,V, (d) Very severe infection 6 - 8 2g every 6 to 8 hours I,V(e,g septicemia, CNS), (e) Life-threatening infections Up to 12 2g every 4 hours I,V2, (2) Infants and children under 12 years: The recommended dose is 50 to 100mg/kg/ day I,V in 2 to 4 divided doses, In life-threatening infections up to 150 to 200mg/kg/ day, in divided doses, may be required, (3) Immature infants: The dose should not exceed 50mg/kg/day, (4) Patients with impaired renal function: In patients with estimated creatinine clearance of less than 5ml/min, the maintenance dose must be halved. The initial dose may be determined by susceptibility of the causative organisms and severity of the infection. Package : 1 g/vial, 10vials/box.
