Product Description

Therapeutic Indications

For the treatment of actinic keratosis

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The mechanism of action of diclofenac in actinic keratosis is not known but may be related to the inhibition of the cyclooxygenase pathway leading to reduced prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) synthesis. Efficacy of the treatment has been demonstrated in placebo-controlled studies. Diclofenac sodium 3% w/w gel has been shown to clear AK lesions with maximum therapeutic effect seen 30 days after cessation of drug therapy.

Clinical Study: A multicenter, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled parallel groups, clinical trial for the assessment of efficacy and safety of sodium diclofenac 3% therapy of Actinic Keratosis (AK) patients (Eudra CT: 2007-003934-40).
