About EDQM

The EDQM is a European body which equips authorities and manufacturers worldwide with the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.), its reference standards and Certificates of Suitability to the Monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEPs). The PhEur outlines the quality requirements which must be met in order to get medicines approved in Europe. CEPs are used in the quality section of Marketing Authorisation Dossiers and they are officially recognised in all 39 Ph. Eur. member states and beyond.

    The EDQM will launch the online-only European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) in June 2025, bringing legally binding European pharmacopoeial standards to subscribers in a modern and easier-to-use format. The discontinuation of the printed version is a step towards becoming more environmentally friendly. A great set of new features in the new online platform will improve the user experience at all levels and enable the Ph. Eur. to better meet subscribers’ needs for years to come.
