Pharmapack Europe 2023 Award Winners – Körber for the Sustainability Initiative Award

We interview the winners of the Pharmapack Europe Awards 2023, which were held at Pharmapack in Paris. The winners, chosen by a jury, each developed an innovative solution in the categories of Drug Delivery Innovation, Packaging Innovation, Sustainability Initiative, Eco-Design, and Patient-Centric Design. 

In this interview we spoke with Tom Egli, Packaging Materials Marketing Manager of Körber, who was a part of the team that developed the Sustainable Covid Rapid Tester. 

The team recognised that as populations had to adapt to a post-COVID world, regular testing was most likely going to be a apart of this for the foreseeable future. The current lateral flow test kits on the market were made out of plastic, with several single-use plastic components, making them very unsustainable and having a negative impact on the environment. They sought a way to remedy this problem and developed their testing kits, made completely from recyclable materials.
