New Malvern Data Demonstrate Monoclonal Antibody Characterisation Using the Viscotek SEC-MALS 20
Malvern Instruments has posted a new application note demonstrating the use of the company’s Viscotek SEC-MALS 20 multi angle light scattering (MALS) detector for size exclusion chromatography (SEC) in the analysis of monoclonal antibodies.
The application note, ‘Molecular weight measurements of an antibody using Viscotek SEC-MALS 20’, reports experimental data for the analysis of aggregates within monoclonal antibody formulations.
Monoclonal antibodies are being targeted for use in a growing range of therapeutic applications. Measuring the molecular weight of the protein, monomer, oligomers and aggregates within the sample and in formulations is an important part of assessing their safety and efficacy as drugs. Light scattering techniques allow the measurement of absolute molecular weight without relying on potentially inaccurate calibration methods, with MALS an established technology within the industry.
When added to a GPC/SEC chromatography system, the new Viscotek SEC-MALS 20 delivers market-leading MALS detector performance with high accuracy, even at high molecular weights. Its launch makes the Malvern Instruments Viscotek light scattering detector range the broadest available, allowing the company to offer unbiased, optimised solutions for any GPC/SEC application.
