Magnaspartate® 243mg powder for oral solution (magnesium aspartate dihydrate) is a Prescription Only Medicine for the treatment for magnesium deficiency (hypomagnesaemia).
Magnesium is essential in many bodily functions being a co-factor for > 300 enzymes in biosynthetic processes and energy metabolism. Hypomagnesaemia is common in hospitalised patients with an incidence of 60 - 65% in intensive care settings.Magnaspartate has greater water solubility compared to other magnesium salts (solubility is a predictor of their absorption)
Magnaspartate is well tolerated with no reports of increased stoma output
Magnaspartate 10mmol sachets can be dissolved in as little as 50ml of water, tea or orange juice
Can be administered via gastric, duodenal or nasal feeding tube
