Non-prescription medicinal product Indication: Sodium picosulfate is the active substance contained in the medicinal product Laxx. It exerts laxative effect resulting from an immediate action on colon mucous membrane. It stimulates its movements (peristalsis), causing accumulation of fluid and salts in its cavity. In this way it leads to softening of stool, and facilitates intestinal emptying. Laxx is used for short term treatment of constipation in adults and children, and also when it is needed to facilitate defecation, e.g. before some intestinal tests.
