Eli Lilly announced Thursday its financial results for the third quarter of 2011 with an revenue increase of 9 percent compared with the third quarter of 2010.
U.S. pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly announced Thursday its financial results for the third quarter of 2011.
The company's worldwide total revenue was $6.148 billion, an increase of 9 percent compared with the third quarter of 2010. This 9 percent revenue growth was comprised of increases of 4 percent in volume and 4 percent due to the impact of foreign exchange rates. Price had a negligible impact on revenue growth, reflecting the loss of U.S. patent exclusivity for Gemzar? in November 2010.
Total revenue in the U.S. increased 4 percent to $3.273 billion due to higher prices and increased volume. Total revenue outside the U.S. increased 15 percent to $2.874 billion due to the positive impact of foreign exc
