Brochure How Millions of Patients are Benefitting from Inventory Management Powered by RFID
Health systems across the US are driving an advanced, progressive world of modern healthcare. Despite groundbreaking treatments and world-class care, many hospitals are faced with the daily task of manually assessing and restocking inventory – specifically medication kits and trays that are distributed hospital-wide for use in crash carts, operating rooms, and EMS bags. A decade ago, Bluesight embarked on a mission to revolutionize hospital inventory management with KitCheck®, a pioneering RFID-based system that has since transformed inventory management in hundreds of hospitals across North America. -
Whitepaper Smarter Supply Chains. Safer patients.
How RFID delivers benefits for pharma and healthcare.
The transformative benefits of digital ID technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) that are increasingly being captured in retail, manufacturing, and logistics are instructive for healthcare-related businesses as well. By endowing every item in a supply chain or inventory with its own unique digital identity, by enabling richer, one-to-one communication with patients, and by documenting and communicating the “who, what and where” of any item, RFID can dramatically enhance patient safety, brand protection, inventory management, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and more—particularly as healthcare systems are increasingly stressed by the COVID-19 pandemic. -
Brochure Pioneering Digital IDs for Pre-Fillable Syringes
How digital ID technology is advancing next generation fill-finish production lines.
The patient safety, process automation, and monetary benefits are compelling. Compared to vials, pre-filled syringes (PFS) reduce unnecessary waste of expensive drugs, prevent contamination and errors in dosing, make treatments easier to administer, and reduce the cost per injection. -

Webinar Transforming Pharma Fill/Finish Processes with RFID - Enabled Pre-fillable Syringes (PFS): Use Cases and Live Demo
Sterile pharmaceutical production is expected to grow by over 50% in the next seven years, driven by new demand for recombinant antibodies and small molecules. Consequently, the fill/finish stage in pharmaceutical manufacturing is becoming a bottleneck in the pharmaceutical production . Health authorities and regulators are also demanding enhanced traceability during the manufacture of parenteral medicines as the most common processes and technologies in place are reaching their limitations . Addressing this challenge means boosting Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) while meeting rising regulatory demands. This presentation explores an innovative solution to address this dual challenge: Container-level traceability (CUID). This pioneering approach utilizes RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) to ensure accountability for each container in the fill-finish processes, down to the individual unit. In the short term, CUID can mitigate exposure to mix-up, improve OEE through automated reconciliation, and cut waste with unit-by-unit segregation. Beyond this, CUID has the potential to eliminate data silos and bridge the gap between each manufacturing process step. Manufacturers can harness advanced data analytics to unveil hidden patterns, identify process inefficiencies, and detect trends and anomalies that were previously unnoticed. Becton Dickinson selected RFID technology for pre-fillable syringes based on the relatively low impact on existing manufacturing lines and the high potential for future applications. In collaboration with Avery Dennison Smartrac, a leading provider of RFID inlay solutions, BD has conducted a proof of concept and will demonstrate the feasibility of the solution through a video of BD’s RFID Demonstration Lab and a live demo. -
