Providing accommodation for children and their families who come to Istanbul for cancer treatment

Abdi İbrahim, the leader of the Turkish pharmaceutical industry, has initiated a social project for children undergoing cancer treatment and their families. Abdi İbrahim Foundation House of Kindness, which provides accommodation for children who come to İstanbul for cancer treatment but face difficulties staying due to economic reasons, has opened its doors in Fatih, İstanbul. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nesrin Barut Esirtgen, Deputy Chairperson of Abdi İbrahim and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Abdi İbrahim Foundation, said: “Taking into account the accommodation needs of our children and their relatives who come to Istanbul for treatment, we realized the House of Kindness project to be part of the solution. Abdi İbrahim, Türkiye's healing power, has launched another meaningful project as part of its social investment programs. House of Kindness, implemented by Abdi İbrahim Foundation, which operates in the fields of sports, education, health, and care services, will offer accommodation to children who come to Istanbul for cancer treatment or check-ups but cannot stay due to economic reasons, along with their families.

 

Abdi İbrahim Foundation House of Kindness, located in Fatih, İstanbul, has a total of 18 rooms and the capacity to accommodate 45 people at once. House of Kindness, which aims to serve approximately 120 families throughout the year, will accept patients according to the signed and stamped referral forms from doctors working in the oncology departments of hospitals. Both the stage of the disease and the financial situation of the family will be determined through these forms.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the House of Kindness, Nesrin Barut Esirtgen, Deputy Chairperson of Abdi İbrahim and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Abdi İbrahim Foundation, stated that they are proud to create a warm environment that will embrace children and their families struggling with cancer with the Abdi İbrahim Foundation House of Kindness.

The first and most essential condition for this support is, of course, their good health. Because health is the foundation of everything,” said Nesrin Barut Esirtgen, and continued: “One of the most critical diseases that threaten our age, our people, and unfortunately our children, is cancer. Cancer treatment is a very challenging process for both the patient and the patient's relatives. The places where treatment opportunities and options are more comprehensive are large cities, especially İstanbul, so our children who live in different cities of Anatolia and suffer from this disease have to travel with their families to our big cities for treatment. In this context, as a company that works to offer a better and healthier life to millions of people every day with the mission of improving life, we see it as one of our responsibilities to help patients battling cancer.
